At Hotel Prats, we seek to collaborate in taking care of our planet through various actions.
We use refillable shampoo and soap dispensers in our bathrooms to reduce plastic waste. We practice recycling of our waste and use eco-friendly disinfection materials like ionized water for certain cleaning tasks in the hotel.
Hotel Prats is a centennial establishment.
In October 2013,
the Chamber of Commerce of Girona awarded us the “Centennial Establishment” certificate, allowing us to justify a history
of up to 103 years.
In 1911 and 1912, Francisco Pau Prats subleased Fonda Rotllat for the summer season.
In 1913, he already rented the establishment directly as the owner and adopted the name Hotel Prats.
It became a mandatory stopover for agencies, where travelers and horses rested before resuming the long journey to Cerdanya.
The favorable dry climate attracted those suffering from lung conditions and became an attraction for relaxation. Tourism among the Catalan bourgeoisie started to grow.
During those years, the Swiss figure skating team spent a few days at Hotel Prats. It coincided with a cold week, and for a couple of days, at the request of one of the skaters, the great-grandfather gradually flooded the square until it froze, creating an ice rink (see photo).
During the Civil War, the family scattered throughout the valley. The children of the house were taken in by relatives living in the countryside, while the parents fled to France. The hotel was looted and occupied by refugees and republican militants, enduring stoically until the war ended.
In the riverside dining room, you can still see the traces of the fire they lit on the ground to keep warm and cook.
After the war, the family reunited and resumed the business with the help of close relatives. It was not easy with everything burned, empty, looted, and dirty.
In the 1930s, the construction of the Núria Rack Railway boosted tourism, and Gil Pau Codina purchased the property in installments. It was a period of growth, and the Catalan bourgeoisie found one of its destinations here.
In 1966, the hotel passed into the hands of Gil Pau Robiró due to his father’s death.
In the photograph, Gil Pau Codina talks to some vacationers at the gasoline pump that was at the hotel.
We have tried to preserve the image of the hotel as faithfully as possible. Time stands still in every corner of this place, adorned with furniture and objects rescued from the family’s past.
Very easy to reach, very homely, the people who attended to me were delightful, the owners very kind, and the breakfast delicious!!!!

Family hotel located in the center of the village. It is an old hotel that has adapted and retains all its charm. [...] Without a doubt, it is a place we would return to.
