The capital of the valley is Ribes de Freser, situated at an altitude of 912 meters. A curious fact to note is that in the very center of the town, you can observe the only outcrop of granophyre (rock from a volcano’s chimney) that emerges on the surface. There is also a village in the valley called Dòrria, which stands out as the highest inhabited settlement in Catalonia, at an altitude of 1550 meters.
